You can do this online by logging in to your account through the Secure Members Area or you can do it in writing. If you are doing it in writing, please provide as much information as possible and remember to sign it.
Please let us know any changes as soon as possible to avoid any complications, lost payslips / pay advice or delays in paying you.
What if I change Agency?
Please let us know as soon as possible so that we can contact them, ensure that everything is in place for the project before you start and avoid any delays in paying you.
What is the CIS scheme?
The CIS Scheme is the Construction Industry Scheme, and this sets out the rules for how payments to subcontractors for construction work must be handled by contractors in the construction industry.
It is maintained by HM Revenue & Customs, and you can access more information by visiting their website at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cis/cis-intro.htm
Under CIS Plus, our subcontractors must hold a valid net or gross status (the old CIS4 and CIS6).
If you already hold a net or gross status, then we will take the necessary steps to ensure that you are verified by HM Revenue & Customs as quickly as possible, so that we can pay you as and when we engage your services. If you do not, then please contact HMRC directly.
How do I register for CIS status?
You must register for CIS Status through HM Revenue & Customs. This can be done online or by calling HM Revenue & Customs CIS Helpline on 0845 366 7899 (open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, seven days a week).
Will I get a tax rebate?
This will depend on your personal circumstances. We suggest that you speak to your accountant. If you do not have one, Crest Plus are able to make available the services of Independent Accountancy Service Providers to individual subcontractors, if you so choose.
What is self assessment tax return and do I need to complete one?
A self assessment tax return is designed to bring together an individual’s taxable income and gains during a tax year (from 6th April one year to 5th April the next) for the purpose of calculating the correct tax liability for that year.
Whether you should complete one will depend on your personal circumstances. We suggest that you speak to your accountant. If you do not have one, Crest Plus are able to make available the services of Independent Accountancy Service Providers to individual subcontractors, if you so choose.
